Moves for Mental Health Contest

As we head into the winter months and spend more time indoors, it can be difficult to feel motivated to move your body – even though that is exactly what we need to feel better physically and mentally.

Participation in regular physical activity can increase our self-esteem and can reduce stress, anxiety and depression. It also plays a role in improving the quality of life of people experiencing mental health problems. Even a quick walk can increase our mental alertness, energy and positive mood.

That’s why RE/MAX is pleased to announce the Moves for Mental Health contest, in partnership with the Western Hockey League and  Canadian Mental Health Association Talk Today program. Simply create a video of yourself showing us how you move for mental health, share it on Facebook, and tag RE/MAX Canada! Don’t forget to include your favourite WHL team and #movesformentalhealth.

Whether you already have an exercise routine or you’ve made a New Year’s resolution to start one, here are some fun suggestions:

  • Walking / hiking
  • Chair yoga
  • Running
  • Dancing
  • Kickboxing
  • Sledge hockey
  • Sports
  • Arm weights
  • Winter play

Contest is open to residents in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, and Northwest Territories from January 6 to February 1. There will be 17 winners announced early February and receive a signed jersey of their preferred WHL club and RE/MAX branded swag.
